The Electronic Collaborative Educational Learning Laboratory (ECELL) is an Enrichment Summer School aimed at developing students' information age skills in a technology rich environment. Students will learn to use networks and information technologies, including the World Wide Web, to formulate questions, collaborate with others, conduct research, draw conclusions and to act on real-world issues/problems. Students will have an opportunity to work with the Department of Education's most innovative educators and the College of Education's Masters for Education in Teaching Program (MET).

Fun With World Languages Sharon Dumas	Students will have opportunities to: Make new friends from other countries via the Internet Experience the language and culture of other countries through cooking, music, dancing, arts and crafts, and games Produce a slide show displaying what they have learned
C.I.A.: Community In Action Joan Kiyonaga JoAnn Fu Jaryd Oshiro	Be an agent in inquiring, investigating, and understanding your own community (past, present, and future) using Internet tools, CD-ROMs, animation, and other exciting multimedia technologies.
Fantasy Baseball Kristi Miyata Beth Fukunaga	Ken Griffey Jr., Alex Rodrigues, Hideo Nomo... and more will help students to learn mathematics, language arts, writing, economics, social studies, art, music, and technology skills. PLAY BALL!
Create a Webzine! Mark Murdock Jennifer Ho	Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone... move over! In six weeks we will design, write, and edit a web-based magazine featuring your thoughts on current movies, books, advertising, the web, television, and any other media we want to explore.
ECELL Video Carolyn Kirio Dawn Sueoka Mahalia Aguinaldo Trang Vanh	Learn firsthand the production skills needed to create both live and edited video and multimedia projects. Plans call for the airing of at least 4 live broadcasts as well as many, many more exciting challenges.

Please Note: This is an Enrichment Summer Program. Students are placed in multi-grade groups, collaborating with other students on campus and globally as active learners, selecting from a variety of "inquiry projects" to research, design, develop, and share.

*Ma'ema'e School will provide financial and Administrative management for ECELL. The Electronic collaborative Educational Learning Laboratory (ECELL) is a collaborative effort of the Hawaii State Department of Education, the University of Hawaii's College of Education Master of Education in Teaching (MET) Program, and the Hawaii Education & Research Network (HERN), a demonstration project grant from the National Science Foundation's Networking Infrastructure for Education Program.
