Volunteers in HERN Summer Workshop 1996

What is the role of the Instructor?

Responsible for concepts/skills of the workshop
Reviewed HERN checklist for workshop consistency
Provide own handouts, if any, and submitted electronic copy
Notified tech. staff of hardware and software needs
Provide description of workshop and yourself to HERN
Checking in prior to the start of the workshop
Subscribed to hern96-l@hawaii.edu
Checking e-mail and web site for changes/updates
Returning attendance sheet

What is the role of the Room Monitor?

Responsible for checking in prior to the start of the workshop
Reporting back with head count of the workshop or attendance
Be a "gopher" if needed
Must remain in the room until room has been secured or next workshop monitor is present

What is the role of the Technical Assistant?

Assist Instructor (mainly in computer labs)
Troubleshoot
Instructors may ask for assistance in explaining technical aspects of the topic or configuration of equipment
Responsible for checking in prior to the start of the workshop

What is the role of the Misc. Volunteer?

Responsible for checking in and staying for duration of selected times
Activities may include: data entry, answering phones, being a room monitor, cleaning up, handling refreshments

How do I check the time and day that I'm supposed to be there?

The URL of the schedule shall be sent directly to the volunteers via E-Mail. In addition to checking e-mail and the schedule's web site, all volunteers must check in to the HERN Office an hour (suggested check in) prior to your assigned time. The HERN Office will be in Naio 209.
