This project made available to students a wealth of maps, articles, past projects, speakers, site visitations and other resources which allow them to develop a historical journey of Aiea during the period of the 1700s to the present. Children were immersed in on-site visitations and historical recall by several Kumu of Hawaiian history and culture and numerous experts and proprietors. It required them to compare the Aiea of yesteryear to the present day Aiea and to make proposals for the preservation of Aieas history in hopes that others would also appreciate "the Aiea Story" well into the next century.
Students recorded materials and images electronically and explored the possibility of other primary and secondary resources. Upon exploring Aieas history, the students selected sites of interest and considered issues and concerns with respect to Aiea towns past, present and future. Students started to develop an understanding of the process to address the issues and concerns that affect their future.
