| Course Requirements: | Students who enroll in this course need to demonstrate computer competency. They must (1) have and be willing to use a personal UH email address with an "@hawaii.edu" extension, (2) have access to a computer and access to the Internet -- email and Web, (3) be willing to log on from 4-5 days a week, from Monday to Friday, one or more times a day, and (4) be willing to share their email address with the instructor and classmates. | |

| Course Description: | Students will practice sustained argumentative/research writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. Emphasis will be on logical and rhetorical principles, stylistic concerns, research methods, evaluation of source materials, and the legal and ethical issues of writing non-fiction. | |
